This hits kept coming Monday for Class AA Northwest Arkansas center fielder Lane Adams even after being named the Texas League player of the week.
Adams went two for four in the Naturals’ 9-2 loss at Frisco and now has a seven-game hitting streak. During that time, he is hitting .400 (12 for 30) with three home runs, three doubles, a triple and 12 RBIs.
First baseman Mark Threlkeld had an RBI triple and scored a run.
Starter Jason Adam was roughed up for seven runs on 10 hits in four innings.
**Class AAA Omaha’s bullpen imploded, costing Sugar Ray Marimon a potential victory as the Storm Chasers lost 7-6 in 10 innings at Iowa. Carlos Peguero hit a three-run homer in the second inning and Francisco Pena followed with a solo shot as Omaha took a 4-0 lead. Spencer Patton (two runs in two-thirds of an inning), Casey Coleman (two runs in two innings) and Wilking Rodriguez (one run in the 10th) offered little relief. Marimon gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out four and didn’t issue a walk.
**Miguel Almonte allowed three runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings but Class A-Advanced Wilmington fell 7-5 in 10 innings at Salem. Almonte struck out four and walked two. Daniel Stumpf gave up the game-winning homer. DH Michael Antonio had three hits.
**Alfredo Escalera-Maldonado and Frank Schwindel each hit a solo homer in Class A Lexington’s 6-5 win over Augusta. Matt Alvarez, 3-2, got the win in relief. He allowed two runs on three hits in 3 1/3 innings.
**Rookie-Advanced Idaho Falls scored seven runs in the top of the eighth inning and won 9-2 at Ogden. Left fielder Robert Pehl had a three-run homer in the inning (and four RBIs overall). First baseman Ryan O’Hearn had three hits, including two doubles, and an RBI in the game. Starter Jake Newberry allowed two runs on five hits in six innings. He struck out five and walked a pair.
**Rookie Burlington rallied from a five-run deficit and beat Greeneville 9-8. The Royals scored one in the seventh and five in the eighth to grab the lead. After allow a run in the top of the ninth, Angelo Castellano singled home Cristian Cano with the winning run. Catcher Chase Vallot and second baseman D.J. Burt hit solo home runs and first baseman Brandon Dulin, the former Lee’s Summit North star, had a two-run shot.
