J.C. Sulbaran allowed just one run on five hits over six innings Friday night in Class AA Northwest Arkansas’ 6-5 win over Tulsa.
Sulbaran walked two and struck out four. Of his 89 pitches, 55 were for strikes. With the Naturals up 5-1, Noel Arguelles relieved to start the seventh, but his struggles continued. He allowed four runs on three hits with two walks and two wild pitches, while getting just one out. He has a 17.47 ERA after five apperances.
Parker Morin opened the eighth with a single and took second on a sacrifice by Brian Bocock, who reached on an error. Lane Adams reached when his grounder forced Morin at third as Bocock took second.
Jorge Bonifacio flied out and Cheslor Cuthbert followed with an RBI single that knocked in Bocock with the winning run.
Malcom Culver struck out the side in the eighth and Hassan Pena pitched the ninth for the save.Other games
• Francisco Peña hit a two-run home run and Carlos Peguero had a solo shot as Class AAA Omaha beat Round Rock 3-2 at home. Brett Tomko allowed two runs on five hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Buddy Baumann got the win with three shutout innings. He struck out two, gave up two hits and walked one. Matt Fields went zero for three and his season-opening 14-game hitting streak came to an end.
• Luke Farrell gave up three runs, but all were unearned, in Class A Lexington’s 11-3 loss to Augusta. Farrell gave up four hits and walked two, but he also struck out five. Cesar Ogando (2 2/3 innings, five runs, three earned) and Tripp Davis (3 1/3 innings, three runs) had rough nights in relief. Center fielder Alfredo Escalera-Maldonado, shortstop Hunberto Arteaga and left fielder Dominique Taylor all had two hits for the Legends.
