Today is the home opener for the Royals broadcast team, of course.

For Steve Stewart, this is his seventh home opener and he loves it.

“It’s like a reunion, because all these people you work with for six months, you don’t see them for six months and boom, you see 50 people you haven’t seen in a half year, so it’s really fun in that way,” Stewart said.

“The atmosphere walking through the parking lot coming in is unlike any other day. We’re one of the few teams because of all the parking we have and the tailgating tradition here where we have a lot of tailgaters and people are out there having fun hours and hours before the game. That really makes it special. There’s always just a little extra glimmer in everybody’s eye today.”
