There’s no doubt that Royals outfielder Justin Maxwell remembers his last at-bat at Kauffman Stadium.

Undoubtedly Royals fans remember as well.

Maxwell’s 10th-inning grand slam against Rangers closer Joakim Soria broke a scoreless tie in last year’s season finale at The K.

“That was probably the most exciting moment of my career so far,” Maxwell said. “We had a packed house here at The K, we’re playing for a playoff spot. A lot going on in that game. … That was very special.”

Maxwell is from Maryland, where there isn’t a large contingent of Royals fans.

“Back home in Maryland … I had a lot of people saying they were watching the game or saw the highlights,” Maxwell said. “I just feel grateful to be put in a situation like that. That God let his light shine through me, because I’m not where I am in this game by myself.”
