All that offseason chatter about the Royals shopping designated hitter Billy Butler? Royals general manager Dayton Moore says that’s all it is.

“It’s not different than you hear other players throughout the league who are potentially going to be moved,” Moore said. “It’s just all Hot Stove rhetoric.”

Butler, 27, batted .289 with a .374 on-base percentage and 15 homers in 162 games last season. It was a decrease in power for Butler, who hit 29 homers in 2012. But club officials envision a bounce-back year in 2014.

“We think Billy has been a terrific hitter, and Billy is a terrific hitter,” Moore said. “And he’s going to continue to hit. That’s what Billy does.”
