Barring a home playoff game*, the Royals play just twice more this season at Kauffman Stadium.*Yeah, that still looks wrong, surreal and exciting all at the same time
The fans have been boisterous all week as the Royals make a run at the playoffs, and the players have noticed.
“To have a crowd like that, the energy from the crowd, that’s a difference-maker right there,” pitcher Luke Hochevar said. “It pumps you up and kind of takes you to the next level. You just want to hear a big roar at the end of that inning.”
Hochevar heard that roar Friday night when he came on with one on and one out in the eighth inning and left a runner stranded. The crowd of better than 30,000 was excited.
“Every game is so big,” Hochevar said. “That’s what makes it fun. The intensity, the electricity in the ballpark that we’ve had during this push has been awesome. It is so much fun. The fans, their energy really carries over into the clubhouse, so it makes it a lot of fun.”
