Kyle Zimmer’s struggles continued on Sunday as he allowed four runs in six innings as High-A Wilmington lost 4-3 to Salem.
Zimmer, the Royals’ top pick in last year’s draft, saw his record drop to 1-7 with a 5.98 ERA. He allowed seven hits, walked three and struck out six. Zimmer also threw a wild pitch. The big blow was a three-run homer by Salem’s Tim Roberson in the first inning.
Spencer Patton tossed three hitless innings, allowing just one walk with two strikeouts as his ERA dropped to 1.19.

Michael Antonio hit a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth and the Legends beat Savannah 4-3.
Lexington trailed 3-1 heading to the bottom of the eighth, but Terrance Gore opened the inning with a walk and Raul Mondesi reached on a bunt single. Mark Threlkeld sacrificed the runners up a base and Mark Donato hit a sacrifice fly.
Bubba Starling extended his hitting streak to five games with a single that scored Mondesi and tied the game. Starling, whose average had dropped to .194, is now batting .222.

Max Ramirez’s seventh-inning single scored Willy Taveras and snapped a tie as the Storm Chasers beat Oklahoma City 4-3 to gain a doubleheader split.
Oklahoma City rallied from a four-run deficit and won the opener 6-5 in 10 innings.
In the nightcap, second baseman Chase Lambin had two doubles and two RBIs, while Taveras and Ramirez also had two hits.
Brian Sanches allowed two unearned runs in five innings, but didn’t get a decision. Donnie Joseph, who gave up a run on two hits and three walks in 1 2/3 innings, had a blown save, but improved his record to 3-3.
In the first game, third baseman Johnny Giavotella went three for three with two walks and an RBI. Giavotella has a five-game hitting streak, during which he is batting .529 (9 for 17)
Xavier Nady had two hits and two RBIs, while Paulo Orlando had two hits, including a home run.
