Tuesday in the minors: Marimon's gem lifts Northwest Arkansas

Sugar Ray Marimon allowed just two hits in seven innings on Tuesday as Class AA Northwest Arkansas won 4-0 at Arkansas.

Marimon, 4-8, walked three and struck out seven as his ERA dropped to 4.79. He threw 103 pitches (64 strikes) and hit a batter.

It was his second straight solid outing, following a win against Springfield last Thursday (7 innings pitched, seven hits, one run). Marimon has 33 strikeouts over his last 30 1/3 innings pitched (covering five games).

First baseman Matt Fields had two hits and three RBIs, while third baseman Cheslor Cuthbert had a double and a sacrifice fly.

Class AAA Omaha

Albuquerque scored three in the seventh inning and won 4-1 against the Storm Chasers.

Chris Dwyer allowed two hits hits and one run in six innings as the teams entered the seventh tied 1-1. But the Isotopes opened the inning with a bunt single, a walk and a triple. That ended Dwyer’s night, and the last run scored on an errant pickoff attempt by catcher Brett Hayes.

Third baseman Johnny Giavotella had two hits and walked, while second baseman Christian Colon singled and had the game’s only RBI.

Outfieldre Jarrod Dyson who is on a rehab assignment (high ankle sprain) was zero for three and his average dropped to .163. His is hitless in his last 14 at-bats.
