The Royals honored former players and current stars during their pregame ceremony in front of a packed Kauffman Stadium.

They kicked off the festivities by introducing Royals alums such as George Brett, Willie Wilson, John Mayberry, Freddie Patek and Kevin Seitzer. Then it was on to the current Royals. Some of the biggest cheers went to new ace James Shields, and there were a few boos when the camera got to Luke Hochevar.

The family of the late Paul Splittorff gathered at the mound as Splittorff's son, Jamie, a former KU pitcher, threw out the first pitch to John Mayberry.

Finally, Billy Butler and Alex Gordon were honored for last season's awards -- Butler the Silver Slugger and Gordon his second straight Gold Glove.
