It began innocently enough, with a tweet sent in early August from a non-descript coffee shop in New York City.
Little did Hunter Pence know that this tweet, a line from the TV comedy “Seinfeld” — “These pretzels are making me thirsty!” — would spawn a social-media happening.
Since that fateful day in the Big Apple, every out-of-town series the Giants have played (not to mention most of them at home, too) has featured a sprinkling of creative signs in the stands: #HunterPenceSigns.
The 32-year-old Giants outfielder has played along, even posting a few of his own on his Twitter account, @hunterpence.
Never miss a local story.
