Orioles manager Buck Showalter got around to naming his game one starter. And no surprise, it’s Chris Tillman.
Tillman went 13-6 with a 3.34 ERA on the season and had one of his best games against the Royals at Kauffman Stadium on May 16, a 4-0 shutout victory. It was his only start against the Royals this season.
He also threw the opener of the Division Series sweep of the Tigers, a game won by the Orioles 12-3. Tillman went five innings and struck out six. He gave up back-to-back home runs by Victor Martinez and J.D. Martinez but left the game with a 3-2 lead.
No game two starter has been named, but Wei-Yin Chen and Bud Norris started the second and third games against the Tigers.
