Not a bad first All-Star Game appearance for Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer, eh?
In the second inning of Tuesday night’s All-Star Game at Petco Park in San Diego, Hosmer he hit a solo shot, the first by a Royals in the Midsummer Classic since Bo Jackson in 1989 (and, as it turns out, just minutes before Salvador Perez hit one).
Hosmer also added an RBI single as the American League won 4-2, and that earned him the MVP award.
“It’s fun when you can play this game and feel like a kid again,” Hosmer said in a postgame interview on Fox.
Never miss a local story.
Fans, even some from outside of Kansas City, were thrilled for Hosmer.
