So the first question is who will play SungWoo Lee in this movie?
According to Variety Magazine, a movie called “Superfan” is in the works, and it is about Lee and his support of the Royals as well as he trips to Kansas City in 2014. The first came in the summer and Kansas City showed its love for Lee.
He also made it to Kansas City during the World Series.
Variety said Ivanhoe Pictures and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment are co-financing and co-producing the flick with Korean financing-production company CJ E&M.
“We are very excited about this terrific, heart-warming story, a tale of two cultures linked by a shared passion, and social media. We couldn’t have a better partner for this project than CJ,” Ivanhoe/SK Global President John Penotti told Variety. “In terms of both content and execution, the project uniquely lends itself to an organic U.S.-Korea collaboration, and we look forward to critical and box office success in both Korea and throughout the globe.”
Among the movies listed on Ivanhoe’s filmography are “In The Bedroom,” “Crank” and “Swimfan.”
Lee was already the subject of an ESPN “30 For 30” called “#BringBackSungWoo.”
