In December, offensive lineman Tyler Catalina used social media to announce that he would transfer from Rhode Island and play at Iowa State:
Thanks to everyone that stood by my side throughout this process, I have decided to play my final year at Iowa State! #CyclONEnation #BIG12
— Tyler Catalina (@Tycat72) December 17, 2015
Catalina’s Twitter page has the Cyclones’ logo and his avatar has an Iowa State theme. Slam dunk, right?
Wednesday is National Signing Day, and the Cyclones tweeted a welcome to Catalina, who is a graduate transfer, as they did with other players that had signed. However, Catalina’s brother, Tony, tweeted to the Cyclones that they may have jumped the gun.

This is not accurate. Tyler has not made his final decision yet and is still reviewing all options. https://t.co/Cj2xT9BPln

It’s worth noting that Tyler Catalina has retweeted his brother’s announcements that Tyler has received offers from Texas A&M, Georgia, Penn State, Auburn, Missouri and Florida.
AL.com reported that Tyler visited Florida — he tweeted a short video from a basketball game and his brother posted this photo:

That AL.com story also notes that Tyler is planning a visit to Auburn.
The Des Moines Register talked with Catalina and he is reviewing his options and wouldn’t say if he would or would not attend Iowa State.
“As of right now, I’m just going through the process and exploring all options and just trying to find where the best fit would be for me to play next year,” Catalina told the Register.
