If things work out really well, the Chiefs will play host to the AFC Championship Game on Jan. 18.*
*Yeah, it could happen
The following week is the bye before the Super Bowl, but it won’t be a quiet Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs are going to host a Wedding Open House event on Jan. 25, 2015, because you may not know this, but it is possible to have your wedding at Arrowhead Stadium.
Never miss a local story.
The Chiefs said they had 16 wedding-related events in 2014: nine wedding receptions, five ceremonies and receptions and two rehearsal dinners.
The events department already has booked six wedding-related events for 2015.
Here’s what is going to happen at the open house (from a news release): the “stadium’s available event spaces will be set up as wedding-specific locations, and the Chiefs will be showcasing some of Kansas City’s top wedding vendors as well, including bakeries; dress and attire; entertainment; event décor and design; florists; and photographers, to name a few. This format will allow attendees to see a complete picture of what a wedding celebration could be like at the Home of the Chiefs.”
There are some caveats (from the news release).
▪ You can’t use the Chiefs’ trademarks or logos or any “tradenames.”
▪ The Chiefs have their own caterer.
▪ Nothing shall be affixed to the premises without the express prior written consent of the Chiefs. No helium or lighter-than-air balloons, confetti, or glitter shall be permitted in or on the premises without prior written approval of the Chiefs.
Of course, one of the perks is the on-field access for the happy couple and a photographer (with an escort from the Arrowhead Events staff member). Additionally, there is access to the stands for the bridal party and photographer for pictures on the day of the reception. Again, there will be an escort by an Arrowhead Events staff member.
Registration for the Wedding Open House can be found here.
