There was a great gnashing of teeth when the Royals traded Wil Myers to the Tampa Bay Rays two years ago.
A segment of fans thought the Royals had sold their future for James Shields.
Funny thing happened: Shields and Wade Davis helped the Royals reach the World Series this fall. And on Wednesday came news that the Rays were dealing Myers to the Padres as the centerpiece of a three-team, 11-player trade.
While Myers won the AL Rookie of the Year award in 2013, some made the call: The Royals had won that trade with the Rays two years ago that caused such great consternation.
Ok Tampa. @Royals made WS. Will Myers has been traded to @Padres . Can you FINALLY admit I was right about KC winning James Sheilds trade?

So Shields/Davis for Myers/Odorizzi. Now Odorizzi/Sousa plus other prospects. Right now it is advantage #Royals over #Rays

The Royals don't look so bad for trading Wil Myers now, do they? - http://t.co/gOwtEnAPlc

As a royals fan with Wil Myers being dealt by the Rays I'd say KC got the best part of the trade two years ago given what has happened.

So did the #Royals win the James Shields-Wil Myers trade?

Remember when the Royals were idiots for trading Wil Myers for James Shields and Wade Davis?
