There were no tridents* thrown during the Padres-Rockies bench-clearing brawl on Wednesday, but boy, it escalated quickly.
*That's an Anchorman reference, for the uninitiated
In the bottom of the third inning of the game at Coors Field, San Diego pitcher Luis Perdomo threw a pitch behind Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado.
Arenado didn't take kindly to that and charged the mound. Perdomo threw his glove at Arenado. The benches and bullpens emptied, and punches were thrown.
It was a donnybrook that flared up twice more after the initial burst of activity.
Take a look:
Arenado and Perdomo were ejected, along with the Padres' A.J. Ellis and Colorado's German Marquez and Gerardo Parra.
