Once upon a time, Kansas basketball coach Bill Self played at Oklahoma State.
In 109 games from 1981-85, Self averaged 6.3 points, 2.9 assists and 2.0 rebounds. Nice numbers, but no one will deny that Self has had greater success as a coach.
During his 25-year career as a head coach, Self's teams have compiled a 647-199 record. The Jayhawks have won 14 straight Big 12 championships and a national title under his guidance.
Heading into KU's regular-season finale Saturday against the Cowboys, the Oklahoma State student paper poked fun at Self with a tweet that showed him in an Oklahoma State uniform and the message "Bill Self peaked in college."
Not quite, of course. But still kind of funny.
Take a look:
That tweet is a poster that appeared in the school newspaper on Friday.
"It's a tradition that O'Colly's are distributed in the student section so we can add an insert for people to hold up at home conference games or big nonconference games," the paper said in a tweet.
