Maybe this was just a case of Carlos Santana taking creative license with the national anthem. Of course, that’s usually a no-no, even if you are a Grammy Award-winning guitar legend.
Santana played the national anthem Sunday ahead of Game 2 of the NBA Finals, and he seemed to repeat a verse.
After playing “O’er the ramparts we watched, Were so gallantly streaming,” Santana went back and played “Whose broad stripes and bright stars.”

There have been far worse renditions, but Santana’s error didn’t go unnoticed.
Did Carlos Santana repeat a part of the National Anthem? #WasThatOnPurpose

Shout-out to the Oracle Arena pyro crew for not jumping the “bombs bursting in air” gun after Carlos Santana added a verse to the anthem.

Can we do this thing where Carlos Santana never plays the National Anthem ever again? That'd be cool.

Yo did Carlos Santana just screw up the national anthem?

Why did Carlos Santana play an extra verse in the National Anthem? If you don't know the song, don't play it. #NBAFinals2017
