College notebook: Former SM East tennis player Ross Guignon earns NCAA All-America status

Former Shawnee Mission East tennis standout Ross Guignon earned NCAA All-American status when he and his Illinois doubles partner Tim Kopinski were chosen as a top-eight seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Former Shawnee Mission East tennis player Ross Guignon earned NCAA All-American status when he and his Illinois doubles partner Tim Kopinski were chosen as a top-eight seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Guignon and Kopinski finished 15-5 in duals and 8-1 in the Big Ten this season. They will compete in NCAA play on May 21-26 in Athens, Ga.

• Emporia State’s softball team made the NCAA Division II Tournament as the No. 3 seed in the Central Regional, which will be Friday-Sunday in Mankato, Minn. The Hornets will first play sixth-seeded Central Oklahoma.
