Northwest Missouri’s DeShaun Cooper makes Division II All-America team

Northwest Missouri’s DeShaun Cooper was chosen to the National Basketball Coaches Association’s 15-player All-America team Tuesday.
Central Oklahoma’s Josh Gibbs, who played at Raytown High, also made the team. Gibbs averaged 21.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per game.
Cooper was the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association player of the year. The Bearcats reached the NCAA Division II Central Regional final, losing to Central Missouri, which plays in the Elite Eight at noon today in Evansville, Ind.
• Northwest Missouri football coach Adam Dorrel was chosen the Burns & McDonnell Coach of the Year by the Kansas City Sports Commission. Dorrel will receive his award April 11 at the Kansas City Sports Commission Awards Banquet at the Muehlebach Tower at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown.
Dorrel led the 15-0 Bearcats to the Division II title and was chosen MIAA and American Football Coaches Association Division II coach of the year.
