Central Missouri’s men are on the way to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight with a 60-59 win over Northwest Missouri State on Tuesday in the Central Regional championship game in Mankato, Minn.
Daylen Robinson hit a free throw with 2 seconds to play for the Mules, and DeShaun Cooper’s last-second three-pointer was off the mark for the Bearcats. Robinson had 13 points in the game, and Cooper scored 24 points.
The Mules will play Southern Connecticut State in the national quarterfinals next Tuesday in Evansville, Ind.
• Defending Division II champion Drury also reached the Elite Eight, beating Michigan Tech 71-57 on Tuesday in Springfield. The Panthers will play West Liberty (W.Va.) on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
• Skylarr Shurn’s 33 points led St. Francis (Ind.) to a 75-68 victory over Ozarks (Mo.) in the NAIA Division II women’s title game Tuesday in Sioux City, Iowa.
Alice Heinzler led Ozarks with 22 points.
• Emily Bell scored a career-high 21 points in leading top-ranked North Iowa Area Community College to a 100-49 victory over Dakota College of Bottineau in the opening round of the NJCAA Division II women’s tournament Tuesday at Johnson County Community College.
Monroe (N.Y.) held off defending national champion Louisburg (N.C.) 76-73.
Parkland (Ill.) beat Lake Michigan 94-69, Highland (Kan.) beat Essex County (N.J.) 89-26, St. Clair County (N.J.) beat North Central (Mo.) 80-74 and Cincinnati State beat Kankakee (Ill.) 83-63.
