MidAmerica Nazarene coach Rocky Lamar and Evangel coach Steve Jenkins were among 12 men inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame on Tuesday night before the start of the Division I men’s basketball tournament at Municipal Auditorium.
Lamar, a six-time Heart of America Athletic Association coach of the year, has taken MidAmerica to 15 national tournaments, winning the 2007 Division II title. The Pioneers reached the Division I quarterfinals in 2013.
Jenkins has led Evangel to six Heart titles, including the 2002 Division II national championship, and the Crusaders will be making their fifth straight appearance in the Division I tournament.
The other Hall of Fame award winners are: James “Jim” Poteet, Southwestern Christian (Okla.), meritorious service; Kevin Donley, St. Francis (Ind.), football coach; Tyler Emmert, Carroll (Mont.), football athlete; Bobby Davis, Tennessee Wesleyan, basketball athlete; Ralph Hodge, Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), basketball coach; Keith Lytle, Oklahoma City, baseball meritorious service; Chris Schroder, Oklahoma City, baseball athlete; Benjamin “Ben” Zobrist, Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), baseball athlete; Mike Renney, Simon Fraser (B.C.), softball coach; John Mason, Fort Hays State, track and field athlete.
