Central Missouri advanced to the NCAA Division II Central Regional championship game with a 94-84 win over Missouri Southern on Sunday in Mankato, Minn.
The Mules, who were led by Dillon Deck’s 21 points, will play Northwest Missouri, a 71-66 winner against top-seeded Minnesota State-Mankato, at 7 p.m. Tuesday for a spot in the Elite Eight in Evansville, Ind.
Olathe South grad Marquis Addison scored 28 points in the loss for Missouri Southern.
In Northwest Missouri’s victory, DeShaun Cooper scored a game-high 25 points. Zach Schneider had 13 points off the bench for the Bearcats, who seized control with a 25-6 run in the first half.
That spurt helped Northwest Missouri take a 39-26 lead into halftime. Mankato cut the lead to 67-66 with 36 seconds left in the game, but the Bearcats didn’t allow another point after that.
Drury, the top seed in the Midwest Region, crushed Lake Superior State (Mich.) 79-61 in Springfield, Mo. Drury plays Michigan Tech at 7 p.m. Tuesday for a spot in the Elite Eight. Kameron Bundy scored 17 and four Drury players finished in double figures.
• The top-seeded Drury women advanced to the Midwest Regional championship with a 78-58 win over Quincy (Ill.) on Sunday in Springfield. The Panthers will play No. 6 seed Wayne State (Mich.) at 7 p.m. Monday for a spot in the Elite Eight in Erie, Pa.
Central Missouri, the top seed in the Central Region, also plays for an Elite Eight spot at that time, facing No. 7 seed Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.)
