The top-seeded Emporia State women advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Central Regional with a 97-65 win over Southwestern Oklahoma on Friday in Searcy, Ark. Laura Patrick led the Hornets with 27 points and Merissa Quick had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Emporia State will play Wayne State at 5 tonight for a spot in Monday’s regional final. The eight regional champions advance to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in Erie, Pa.
Wayne State eliminated Pittsburg State 83-77 in Friday’s second regional game. Antquinita Reed led the Gorillas with 24 points and seven rebounds and Lizzy Jeronimus had 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Also in the Central Regional, No. 2 seed Central Missouri beat Northern State (S.D.) 82-69 and will face Concordia-St. Paul (Minn.) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Keuna Flax had 21 points and nine rebounds.
• Top-seeded Drury beat Truman State 74-68 on Friday in a Midwest Regional opener in Springfield. Drury will play the Northern Michigan-Quincy (Ill.) winner at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in a semifinal.
