Player of the game:
So many candidates for Northwest. On offense, go with quarterback Trevor Admas in a slight nod over wide receiver Reuben Thomas and running back Billy Creason. On defense, tackle Bryant Hummel and linebacker D.J. Gnader had big days.
Reason to hope:
Eight defensive starters, including MIAA player of the year Matt Longacre, are to return. Six offensive starters were underclassmen.
Reason to mope:
After a 15-0 season? Hardly.
If Northwest gets this far next year, the trip won’t be as far. The Division II championship game will be played at Sporting Park in Kansas City.

|A-||Offense||Bogged down a couple of times, but after opening with a 17-0 lead, the Bearcats had scored enough not be in pressure situations.|
|A||Defense||Against a team that rushed for 451 yards last week, Northwest held Lenoir-Rhyne to 273 yards on the ground.|
|A||Special teams||The goal was to either block a kick or score. Northwest did both on one play, when Kevin Berg’s blocked punt resulted in a safety. The team’s kickoff coverage was superb.|
|A||Coaching||In a 15-0 season, the right buttons got pushed. Adam Dorrel added a nice touch this week with the uniform accents.|
