Rockhurst outside hitter Morgan Rietzke, a Staley High grad, was chosen NCAA Division II freshman of the year Thursday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Rietzke, who was also picked to the coaches’ All-America third team, led Great Lakes Valley Conference freshmen with 371 kills.
Also in Division II, Washburn junior right-side hitter Marissa Cox and Central Missouri senior outside hitter Taylor Goodness were chosen first-team All-Americans. Jennies senior setter Julia Bates and sophomore libero Annie Reilly were chosen to the second team.
In Division I, Kansas’ Caroline Jarmoc was picked to the second team and Missouri’s Lisa Henning of Blue Springs was chosen to the third team.Soccer All-Americans

Baker senior defender Andy Griffin of Olathe and MidAmerica Nazarene goalkeeper Chris Eriksson are first-team NAIA men’s All-Americans.
Blue Valley North grad Frances Silva, a West Virginia senior forward, made the NCAA Division I women’s second team. St. Theresa’s grad Maegan Kelly, a senior forward at Marquette, made the third team.
Central Missouri senior midfielder Carly Stanley of De Soto made the Division II women’s third team. Benedictine senior defender Ashley Washburn, a St. Thomas Aquinas grad, made the NAIA women’s third team.
