KU seventh, K-State ninth in Big 12 women’s basketball poll

Kansas was picked to finish seventh and Kansas State was chosen ninth in the preseason Big 12 women’s basketball poll.

The poll was voted on by the conference’s coaches, who could not vote for their own team. Oklahoma got five first-place votes and is the preseason favorite. Baylor, which has won the previous three Big 12 titles, was second with three first-place votes. West Virginia, which received the other two first-place votes, and Oklahoma State tied for third.

The Jayhawks, who have reached the NCAA Sweet 16 in consecutive seasons as a double-digit seed, lose three starters heading into this year.
