The Sunflower State schools will get plenty of Big Monday basketball exposure this season.

Kansas is scheduled to make four appearances and Kansas State two in the lineup that was released by the Big 12 on Wednesday.

Kansas opens the schedule against Iowa State on Jan. 13, a matchup that produced a controversial regulation finish that wound up getting two officials suspended. The Jayhawks won the game in overtime.

Kansas also plays the next Monday at home against Baylor. The Jayhawks have won 20 straight Big Monday home games, 16 under coach Bill Self.

Kansas State plays host to the Jayhawks on Feb. 10, and the Wildcats close out the schedule on March 3 at Oklahoma State. KU’s other game is Feb. 24 against Oklahoma.

The Sunflower Showdown receives a Big Monday exposure for the fifth straight year. For the first time an ACC game will be the lead-in to the Big 12, replacing the Big East.

UMKC to visit champs

UMKC will play some formidable road games this season, including against national champion Louisville, where new Kangaroos coach Kareem Richardson was an assistant last year; Creighton; and Iowa State.

Most of the Kangaroos’ home games will be played in Municipal Auditorium. The first game will be a home exhibition against Rockhurst on Nov. 1. According to UMKC, which joins the WAC this year, new season-ticket sales have risen 180 percent over last year.
