Kansas State outfielder Jared King and second baseman Ross Kivett won’t have to worry about their draft positions while the Wildcats meet Oregon State in the super regional on Saturday.
King was selected Friday, in the fifth round by the Mets, and Kivett, the Big 12 Player of the Year, was selected in the 10th round by the Indians.
King, the fifth K-State player selected in the first five rounds since 2009, takes a .327 batting average into the regional at Corvallis, Ore. Kivett this season hit .363 with 39 RBIs.
The winner of the best-of-three series advances to the College World Series next week in Omaha.
• Missouri State’s Nick Petree, a senior right-hander, was selected in the ninth round by the Cardinals. Petree was 8-1 with a 1.61 ERA in an All-Missouri Valley Conference season.
• Another Bears pitcher, senior right-hander Grant Gordon, was selected in the 10th round by the Angels. Gordon was 2-3 with a 3.66 ERA.
• Pittsburg State left-handed pitcher Matt Stalcup, who went 7-3 with a 3.91 ERA, was selected in the ninth round by the A's.
