Kevin Corless, a 1980 graduate of O’Hara High and a Northwest Missouri State alumnus, has been promoted to co-defensive coordinator at Georgia Southern. He was previously the assistant coach for linebackers.

Georgia Southern coach Jeff Monken announced Tuesday that Corless will work alongside Jack Curtis.

“Jack and K.C. have worked together successfully in this role for several seasons at Northwestern State and Arkansas State,” Monken said. “Over the past year, it has become apparent that this is a partnership that will benefit our team as well.”

The 2013 season will be the final one in the Southern Conference for Georgia Southern, which will join the Sun Belt Conference next year.
