Northwest Missouri State is adding to the paw.

Over weekend, the Bearcats rolled out several new logos that incorporate the school’s name and the school’s mascot, Bobby Bearcat.

The new look includes bearcat eyes and claws. Northwest will keep the paw in its logo, but even that’s changed to a white background with the “N” in the middle.

“The paw has been and will continue to be Northwest Missouri State athletics,” Bearcats athletic director Mel Tjeerdsma said. “I feel I have as much invested in the paw over the last 20 years as anyone, and this modern look will serve Bearcat athletics well into the future.”

Tjeerdsma, who stepped down as Northwest Missouri’s football coach in 2010 after three NCAA championships, returned to become the school’s athletic director last month.
