Kansas added another football commitment on Thursday as junior college offensive lineman Mike Smithburg announced his decision to attend KU.
Smithburg, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound guard from Iowa Western Community College, became the second offensive lineman to commit to Kansas this week. Zach Fondal, a 6-5, 295-pound offensive lineman from Navarro Junior College (Corsicana, Texas), picked KU over Arkansas and Texas Tech, according to Rivals.com.
The decisions come on the heels of the commitment of Marquel Combs, a highly-recruited defensive tackle out of Pierce Community College (Calif.), on Tuesday. Smithburg, an all-conference selection at Iowa Western, becomes the 19th commitment for KU and coach Charlie Weis, according to Rivals.com. That number includes 13 from the juco ranks.
