Sacramento Kings coach Keith Smart called it a learning experience.
Kings rookie Thomas Robinson, a former Kansas All-American, was ejected on Wednesday night in Sacramento after delivering an elbow to the jaw of Pistons forward Jonas Jerebko. (See video
The shot floored Jerebko and earned Robinson an automatic ejection. The Kings won the game 105-103. It seems likely that Robinson, who was selected fifth overall by the Kings in last summers NBA Draft, will get some sort of punishment from the league.
Smart, according tothe Sacramento Bee
, called it "the best thing that could happen" to Robinson, who led Kansas to the Final Four this past season.
"Now he understands I can't do that again," Smart said. "So whatever the punishment that comes from the league office, (if it's) more, that's how you learn. The stove is hot, and he put his hand on the stove and got tossed out of the game. Now he'll learn from that, and you probably won't have that happen again for the next 15 years of his career."
Robinson is averaging 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds while playing 13.6 minutes per game in five games this season.
** Fellow rookie Tyshawn Taylor, a second-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets, made his NBA debut with two points against Minnesota on Monday before playing four scoreless minutes in a loss to Miami on Wednesday.
