Former University of Kansas wide receiver Kerry Meier was among Atlanta’s cuts today as the Falcons trimmed personnel to reduce their roster to 53 ahead of the NFL’s 8 p.m. Central deadline.
Meier, selected by the Falcons in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft, drew a $20,000 fine from the league last year for an illegal blindside block to the head area of Minnesota Vikings long snapper Cullen Loeffler. The blow broke a bone in Loeffler’s lower back, ending his season.
Meier appeared in a total of 12 games last season but did not record a reception. He missed the entire 2010 season because of a knee injury suffered in a preseason game against the New England Patriots.
