Left fielder Alex Gordon returns to the Royals lineup on Friday night at Fenway Park after successfully testing his sprained right wrist the day before. Gordon indicated he felt little discomfort when swinging, after sitting out the final five games of the first half, and being inactive at Tuesday’s All-Star Game.

“So far, so good,” Gordon said.

Manager Ned Yost indicated Gordon was still dealing with traces of discomfort in the joint.

“He’s still got a little pain in there, but it’s like one out of 10,” Yost said. “Before, it was like a seven or eight out of 10.”

One more note on the lineup: Lorenzo Cain is now leading off. Nori Aoki is batting ninth. This is a sensible move for obvious reasons: Cain has a .767 OPS, Aoki has a .650 OPS.
