Bubba Starling, Johnny Giavotella deliver game-winning hits in extra innings

Bubba Starling opened the 10th inning with a solo home run on Sunday and Class A-Advanced Wilmington won 2-1 at Frederick.
Starling had his fourth straight multi-hit game coming out of the All-Star break. In that span, he is batting .474 (nine for 19) with two doubles, a triple and a home run. His average is up to .205, the highest its been this season.
Left fielder Terrance Gore stole his 23rd base of the season and scored the Blue Rocks’ other run.
Starter Jonathan Dziedzic allowed one run on seven hits over six innings. He struck out seven, walked two and his ERA dropped to 2.69. Daniel Stumpf pitched a scoreless inning, Yender Caramo, 2-4, threw a pair of perfect innings.
Mark Peterson gave up a hit in the 10th inning, but got his 15th save.
**Johnny Giavotella’s two-run single in the bottom of the 10th inning gave Class AAA Omaha a 7-6 win over El Paso. The Storm Chasers trailed 5-2, but scored three in the eighth inning to tie it. El Paso hit a homer in the 10th off Spencer Patton. But in the bottom of the 10th, Matt Fields and Whit Merrifield had consecutive one-out singles. After Christian Colon walked to load the bases, Giavotella delivered his winning single. Starter Aaron Brooks allowed five runs (four earned) on 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out three and walked one. Merrifield had four hits and scored twice. Brian Bocock had three hits and also scored twice.
**Chase Vallot, the Royals’ competitive balance round A choice in this month’s draft, hit his first professional home run and Rookie Burlington routed Bristol 12-3. Right fielder Cristian Cano had three hits and two RBIs, first baseman Brandon Dulin, left fielder Riley King and Vallot each had two hits. Starter Julio Pinto got the win as he allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits in five innings.
**Reliever Malcom Culver allowed two hits and three walks in the ninth inning and Tulsa turned it into four runs as it beat Class AA Northwest Arkansas 10-6. Starter Sam Selman allowed four runs on five hits in five innings. All of the runs came in the fifth. He struck out three and walked one. Cheslor Cuthbert, Hunter Dozier, Mark Threlkeld and Micah Gibbs each had two hits and scored a run.
**Catcher Frank Schwindel had two hits, including a double, and an RBI, but Class A Lexington lost 10-2 to Delmarva. Starter Matt Tenuta allowed eight runs (seven earned) on five hits with four walks in 2 2/3 innings.
**Third baseman Logan Davis had three hits, including a double, but Rookie-Advanced Idaho Falls lost 5-1 at Grand Junction. Bryan Brickhouse gave up three runs on four hits in two innings. He walked two and struck out three.
