Thought I might try and update how the Royals players (and minor leaguers) are doing in the winter leagues. Not sure how often I'll do these updates, but here's the first one.

Second baseman Christian Colon is on a tear for Leones de Ponce. In his last 10 games, Colon has a slash line of .357/.391/.452 with four doubles. He has five multi-hit games in that span.

Shortstop Jack Lopez, who played last season at Class A Wilmington, has a slash line of .304/.360/.630 for Cangrejeros de Santurce. He has four doubles, a triple, three home runs and 10 RBIs in 46 at-bats.

Right-hander Sam Runion, who spent the majority of last season at Class AA Northwest Arkansas, has a 6.00 ERA in four relief appearances for Indios de Mayaguez.

Royals relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera is 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA for Leones del Escogido. He has made three starts and appeared in five games total, allowing six runs (two earned) in 9 1/3 innings with 14 strikeouts and six walks.

Left-hander Francisley Bueno is 0-1 with a 2.25 ERA in two starts for Tigres del Licey. In eight innings, Bueno has allowed 11 hits, three runs (two earned) with four walks and seven strikeouts.

Maikel Cleto, who spent last season at Class AAA Omaha, has appeared in three games for Tigres del Licey and allowed one unearned run in 3 2/3 innings. He has yet to allow a hit with one walk and five strikeouts.

Pedro Ciriaco, a September call-up to the Royals, is hitting .293 with four doubles and six RBIs in 15 games with Leones del Escogido.

Catcher Francisco Pena, acquired in the offseason, is hitting .200 (10 for 50) at Aguilas Cibaenas. He has a home run, three doubles, four RBIs, seven strikeouts and two walks in 20 games.

Gorkys Hernandez, who also played at Omaha, is hitting .279 with two home runs and 24 RBIs in 39 games for Caribes de Anzoategui.

Paulo Orlando, who played last season at Class AAA Omaha, has a slash line of .301/.417/.786 for Cardenales de Lara. In 29 games, he has two homers, eight RBIs, nine walks and 15 strikeouts.

Catcher Juan Graterol, who played at Class AA Northwest Arkansas last season, is batting .273 with one home run and two RBIs in four games for Tiburones de La Guaira.

Right-hander Sugar Ray Marimon has a 5.00 ERA in four games with Cardenales de Lara. Marimon, who was at Class AA Northwest Arkansas last season, has appeared in four games with two starts. He has allowed seven runs (five earned) on 12 hits in nine innings with four walks and four strikeouts.

Left-hander Ryan Verdugo, who appeared in one game for the Royals in 2012, is 4-1 with a 3.32 ERA after making eight starts for Naranjeros de Hermosillo. He has 29 strikeouts and 25 walks in 40 2/3 innings.
