Royals left fielder Alex Gordon had a single, double and a grand slam in Wednesday’s 8-1 win against the Diamondbacks in Scottsdale, Ariz.
That raised his average to .524 with two home runs. His average is tops in the Cactus League.
Sounds good, right? Well, Gordon wasn’t all that impressed.
“It’s still early,” Gordon said after the D-backs game. “We still have a lot of time to work. It’s feeling a little bit better, but not where I want it to be.”
“Just because you get results, it doesn’t mean it’s maybe where you want to be. I still have some stuff to work on.”
Well, manager Ned Yost was impressed.
“Yeah, he’s swinging the bat pretty good for me,” Yost said.
The Royals have won 11 straight after a spring-opening tie. Some quick numbers ahead of today's game with Seattle.
