Royals reach one-year deals with Greinke, Teahen
By BOB DUTTONThe Kansas City Star
The Royals avoided any arbitration hearings today by reaching one-year agreements with pitcher Zack Greinke and outfielder Mark Teahen.
Figures were not immediately available.
The Royals entered the offseason with 12 potential arbitration cases on their 40-man roster. They have now reached agreements with all of them.
Greinke, 24, and Teahen, 26, were each eligible for arbitration for the first time in their careers, which generally ensures the player of a major raise.
Greinke sought $1.8 million after making $407,000 in 2007. The club had countered with an offer of $1.15 million. Teahen asked for $2.9 million after making $416,000 in 2007. The Royals offered $1.9 million.
