Hudson gets a shot to stay with Royals

More News

Luke Hudson is back with the Royals, or has a chance to be, anyway, signing a minor-league contract with an invitation to big-league camp.

Hudson, a 31-year-old right-handed pitcher, missed all of last season recovering from right shoulder surgery and made just one start in 2007 because of shoulder problems.

He was 7-6 with a 5.12 ERA in 26 games for the Royals in 2006 and is 17-18 with a 5.11 ERA in five seasons.

He’s the Royals’ 13th non-roster invitee.

Also on Thursday, the Royals put tickets on sale for their Awards Night and FanFest. The awards night is Jan. 16 at the Sheraton in Overland Park, and will feature 13 recipients, including pitcher of the year Joakim Soria, player of the year Mike Aviles, and special achievement winner Zack Greinke. Frank White, Mike Sweeney and Willie Wilson will be among the presenters.

FanFest will be the next day, Jan. 17, at the Overland Park Convention Center, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Jan. 18 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at royals.com or by calling 816-504-4040.
