Left-handed reliever Horacio Ramirez will once again get to taste playoff fever the last seven weeks of the baseball season.

The Royals traded Ramirez on Saturday night to the Chicago White Sox for minor-league outfielder Paulo Orlando.

The deal was announced after the Royals lost their fourth straight, falling 7-3 to the Minnesota Twins.

“I think it will be fun (in Chicago),” said Ramirez, who the Royals called up from Omaha on June 22. “I’ve been lucky enough to be part of a couple of (playoff races) in Atlanta. It’s definitely a fun part of the year.”

Left-handed pitcher Josh Newman will be recalled from Omaha and will replace Ramirez on the 25-man roster. Newman has made 25 appearances, including two starts and is 1-2 with a 2.97 ERA.

Ramirez made 15 appearances for the Royals and went 1-1 with a 2.59 ERA.

Orlando, 22, is a right-handed hitter who has spent the entire season at the White Sox’s top Class A team, Winston-Salem. He’s hitting .264 with 15 doubles, 12 triples and nine home runs.

Before the start of the season, Baseball America ranked Orlando the fastest runner and best defensive outfielder in the White Sox minor-league system.

The Royals will assign Orlando to their top Class A team, Wilmington.

More Peralta is better

Joel Peralta delivered the type of middle-relief performance Friday evening against the Twins that every team looks for.

Peralta gave the Royals a chance to win. He entered with one out in the top of the third and threw 3 1/3 innings and didn’t allow a run and only one hit.

It was Peralta’s fourth appearance in August in which he hasn’t allowed a run.

The nine-inning scoreless stretch has allowed Peralta to drop his ERA from 5.91 on July 26 to 4.70. He credits regular work as one of the reasons for his improvement.

“I’m facing more hitters,” Peralta said. “It’s something that has helped me. I’m pitching every two or three days.”

Moustakas gets attention

Third baseman Mike Moustakas’ hot hitting for Class A Burlington is garnering national attention.

Moustakas was put atop this week’s prospect hot sheet by Baseball America for the week of Aug. 1-7. Moustakas hit five home runs and batted .440.

Moustakas has hit 20 home runs, which leads the Midwest League.

New lineup

For the first time since June 13, Ross Gload didn’t start, which meant the Royals trotted out a different lineup.

Saturday night’s new lineup against left lefty Francisco Liriano featured David DeJesus batting second and Billy Butler hitting third.

Gload had started the last 48 games and during that stretch he hit .299 with two home runs and 21 RBIs.

Etc.

•Outfielder Joey Gathright went zero for five for Omaha Friday night against Nashville in his first rehab assignment for a right shoulder bruise.

•David DeJesus picked up his 10th stolen base of the season in the bottom of the first Saturday on a double steal in which Aviles stole third and DeJesus took second. Ten stolen bases by DeJesus equals a career high. He also stole 10 bases last year.
