Coco Crisp, already out for the season after surgery on his right (throwing) shoulder, will have surgery on his left shoulder as well.
The damage to his left shoulder is not believed to be as extensive as the right. Crisp could be ready by opening day in 2010.
Crisp was batting .228 with 14 RBIs and 13 stolen bases and had started 49 games in center field before the injury. It’s believed he played most of the season with the shoulder injury.
The Royals hold an $8 million option for Crisp. Assuming they decline that, they owe him a $500,000 buyout and he’ll be a free agent.
Buck is back
The Royals activated catcher John Buck from the disabled list after Sunday's game, making room by optioning infielder Tug Hulett to Class AAA Omaha.
Buck hasn't played for the Royals since back spasms took him out of a game on May 30.
