Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Western Athletic Conference commissioner Jeff Hurd received a two-year contract extension on Monday.
The sixth commissioner in the conference's 52-year history, Hurd recently completed his first full year in that role and is now under contract through June 2016.
"The Board of Directors is pleased to unanimously approve an extension of Jeff Hurd's contract as commissioner," said Board Chairman and Seattle University president Stephen Sundborg, S.J. "It is very grateful for the leadership he has exhibited during the past year and looks forward to the future as the conference continues to build its strength and reputation along with providing a great fan experience."
Hurd joined the WAC in 1985 as director of conference relations and served in various other capacities prior to being appointed commissioner last June.
