The Kansas City Metro amateur softball team will play U.S. National Team in an exhibition Saturday at the Hidden Valley Sports Complex in Blue Springs.
The Kansas City team is led by Oklahoma sophomore and former Truman High School standout Paige Parker. Parker pitched four perfect games last season for the Sooners, going 28-7 with a 1.65 ERA, while hitting .394.
Parker and her teammates will face a Team USA squad preparing for World Cup X in Irvine, Calif. next week and the Pan American Games, which begin July 15.
Last week, Team USA defeated the Maryland All-Stars 11-2 and 7-0 in two exhibitions.
Tickets are available for purchase on the KC Metro ASA website and can be picked up at the complex from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, 12-7 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the day of the event.
Grandstand and bleachers seating cost $25. Seats down the baselines have already sold out. General admission seating for $15 per ticket is still available in “Homerun Alley.” Spectators sitting in general admission are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets.
Discounted tickets are available. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
At the conclusion of the game, fans who catch a home-run ball will have the chance to move to the front of the autograph line to have that ball signed by the player who hit it.
