The Missouri Mavericks have been spending a lot of time on the road recently — playing 10 of 12 games away from Silverstein Eye Centers Arena — but they begin a three-game home stand Friday against the Alaska Aces. It will be the first time the Mavericks have played the Aces at home. After playing the Aces, the Mavericks are host to the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 p.m. Dec. 19.
Mavericks’ record: The Mavericks, 9-11-4, are in fifth place in the Mountain Division of the ECHL, five points behind the fourth-place Allen Americans, who have played two more games.
Last week (1-2-1): The Mavericks lost 4-1 to the Allen Americans on Wednesday in Allen, Texas. The loss was Missouri’s fourth in a row.
The Mavericks split two games against the Oilers, winning 3-2 on Friday in Tulsa, Okla., and losing 3-2 in a shootout Saturday at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. Friday’s victory was the Mavericks’ first this season in which they gave up the first two goals of the game and came back to win. Saturday was the first time Missouri went beyond regulation in a home game this season, and it took seven rounds of the shootout to determine the winner.
Missouri rallied after it fell behind by three goals against the Thunder on Sunday in Wichita, but the Mavericks couldn’t complete the comeback in a 4-3 loss
This week: The Mavericks don’t play again until Friday night, when they play host to the Alaska Aces at 7:35 p.m. Missouri and Alaska play again at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday night.
Last season, Missouri and Alaska opened the season with a three-game series in Anchorage.
Alaska is 13-5-4 going into this week and trails first-place Colorado by two points in the Mountain Division. The Aces are 6-2-2 on the road this season.

Notable: The Mavericks announced Tuesday that forwards Rocco Carzo and Kyle Schempp have returned to the team from the American Hockey League’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers. … Fox has produced more than a point per game since the start of December. He has seven points in six games, and his best December was last year, when he had nine points in 12 games. … Povorozniouk is tied for second among ECHL rookies with nine goals this season. … Darren Nowick ranks ninth among ECHL rookies with 16 points (six goals and 10 assists).
