The Missouri Mavericks and Tulsa Oilers put in a little overtime on Saturday night, and the Oilers ended up winning 3-2 in a seven-round shootout at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
Tulsa was successful on three shots in the shootout, while Missouri only made two.
The loss dropped the Mavericks to 9-10-4 this season.
Tulsa got on the board first with a Ben Murphy goal 2:36 into the game.
The Mavericks tied it up on Sam Povorozniouk’s goal at 8:20 of the second period, and Missouri went ahead on Dane Fox’s goal at 10:04.
But Missouri’s lead didn’t last long. The Oilers’ Phil Brewer tied the game when he scored 51 seconds after Fox’s goal.
Neither team could score in the third period or overtime, so the game went to a shootout.
Radoslav Illo and Povorozniouk scored on the Mavericks’ first two shots in the shootout, but they couldn’t put another one past Oilers goalie Jamie Phillips.
Christophe Lalancette, Miles Koules and Dmitri Ognev scored against Mavericks goalie Ville Husso in the shootout.
Husso stopped 27 shots in regulation and overtime.
The Mavericks’ next game is 4:05 p.m. Sunday at Wichita.
