Chiefs center Mitch Morse didn’t start Saturday’s preseason game against the Chicago Bears because of illness.
“He caught the flu last night and this morning,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “He wasn’t able to go. He tried, and warmed up.”
Instead, Zach Fulton made his first start of the preseason. He saw action at guard in last week’s game against the Rams and started games at center and guard last season.
Running back Charcandrick West and linebackers Josh Mauga and Dezman Moses didn’t suit-up on Saturday. Also inactive: Jamaal Charles, Eric Berry, Trey Millard, Justin Houston and Tamba Hali.
Quarterback Tyler Bray didn’t play. He has been nursing a neck injury he suffered in the preseason opener two weeks ago. Bray returned to practice this week but Reid said earlier in the week that Bray was unlikely to play against the Bears.
On Saturday, Bray was on the field in full uniform during pregame warmups. But changed into shorts before the game started.
