One of the more interesting 53-man roster decisions for the Chiefs last week involved retaining wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas. The Chiefs have a similar player in rookie Tyreek Hill, so they raised a few eyebrows when they decided to keep both players.
The mystery was heightened on Sunday when Thomas was included on the inactive list for the game against the San Diego Chargers.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Monday that the decision involved the day’s game plan.
“You saw some of the things (Hill) was doing; De’Anthony does some of those same things,” Reid said. “Not only in the return game but also offensive-scheme stuff that we do. I only needed one of them yesterday for that.
Never miss a local story.
“De’Anthony is coming off a good camp. We have full confidence in him.”
