Sporting Kansas City midfielder Lawrence Olum will re-join the Kenyan national team for the second leg of its Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series against Lesotho. Kenya will play host to Lesotho on Aug. 3 in Nairobi, the country’s capital.
Olum will miss Sporting KC’s match Friday against Philadelphia.
“This is a big game for our country,” Olum said in a release. “We are down 1-0, but we believe that we can get through it. I’m just excited to get there and do everything I can to help Kenya advance and give my country something else to be happy about.”
The winner of the series will advance to the main draw of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
Olum has made 15 appearances for Sporting KC this season, including 11 starts.
